I grew up in the world of Coca-cola (I was obsessed), frosted flakes, lunchables pizza snacks, easy mac, wonder bread, and antibiotics for sneezing. Sound familiar?
As a child, I always had stomach aches and high cholesterol. I was led to believe that was normal, it was my genetics and it ran in the family. I played a ton of sports and was thin, so it never seemed to be an issue. When I went to college at the University of Michigan (GO BLUE!), I was surrounded by a work-hard, play-hard mentality, one that I fit right into. Having never really drank before, I was partying and drinking alcohol, eating cheesy bread, nachos, fries or pizza “late night” almost every night, and not exercising. Sure I had stomach ache everyday, but that was normal for me. Between not playing on sports teams like I had in high school, to eating so much junk, I gained about 20lbs that first year.
Your food is your fuel; it’s what we ingest to give our body the nutrients and energy it needs to thrive. Yet so many of us don’t think twice when eating. We live in a fast-paced society where we are eating food out of a package, as quickly as possible so we can move onto our next meeting, our next social gathering, our next mommy & me class. We have no idea where it came from, what chemicals were used, and if there is even any nutritional value in it. NOT COOL!
So many people are living with dis-comfort, with dis-ease. People are living with chronic physical and emotional pain, ranging from stomach aches, headaches, weight gain, low energy, poor sleep, lack of motivation and loss of self.
